If you are buying the T14 plans for making your own Purple martin house, consider this Mounting Kit that includes everything you need to attach your new house onto a wooden post. These posts are available at any Home Improvement store or Lumber Yard and are usually around 16 feet long.
The kit includes a brake winch, 34 feet of 3/16” steel cable, a pulley assembly, cable clamps, tarpaulin hook, lag bolts for securing the winch to the wooden pole, a 6” safety bolt, and a winch padlock and chain to discourage uninvited guests.
The value of this kit when you consider the importance of a high quality purple martin house winch, can be easily taken for granted but will make lowering your house a breeze.
