If you are buying the T14 plans for making your own Purple martin house, consider this Mounting Kit that includes everything you need to attach your new house onto a wooden post (or select Aluminum Pole option for an additional $10.00). Wooden posts are available at any Home Improvement store or Lumber Yard and are usually around 16 feet long.
The wood post kit includes a brake winch, 34 feet of 3/16” steel cable, a pulley assembly, cable clamps, tarpaulin hook, lag bolts for securing the winch to the wooden pole, a 6” safety bolt, and a winch padlock and chain to discourage uninvited guests.
The kit for aluminum poles includes the same items except the bolts are replaced by special U clamps for attaching the winch to your metal Square pole.
The value of this kit when you consider the importance of a high quality purple martin house winch, can be easily taken for granted but will make lowering your house a breeze. The safety factor of the brake winch will not allow the purple martin house to come crashing down should your hand accidentally let go of the handle. An important safety PLUS!
