The "SuperGourd" is a 10" plastic gourd, designed and developed by James R. Hill, III, Founder and Executive Director of the Purple Martin Conservation Association and leading Ornithologist. But it's not just for Purple Martins. Tree Swallows, Bluebirds and even Wrens LOVE them. Simply hang on a shepards hook and let your Bluebirds and Tree Swallows enjoy the same great features of the Supergourd for purple martins!
The SuperGourd features a large, molded-in rain canopy that doubles as a perching platform. A series of molded-in corduroy-like ribs on top of the canopy and a textured pattern in the plastic permit birds to perch comfortably, without slipping.
The SuperGourd weighs 30 ounces, slightly heavier than a natural gourd its size, so it swings less in the wind. The one-piece body has no seams, so no rain will leak in, and six 5/16" drain holes provide a rapid exit for any rain that may blow in through the 1-1/2" porchless entrance hole.
It also has a molded-in, threaded access port, covered by a screw-on cap for easy nest checks, changes and cleaning out. The cap's liner renders it and the access port totally watertight and opaque.

Want to add plastic porches to your Supergourds? Select package extras for 2 porches per gourd. (One on inside of gourd and one on outside of gourd) with installation instructions for an additional $5.00. Drilling of 2 small holes required. Two 10-32 x 3/4" threaded screws and nuts not included.
